~Home to horses, sheep and rural life
~Pony Club Linked Centre with experienced coaches
~Offering riding, farm and wellbeing experiences
We are a fourth-generation farming family based in the Faughan Valley, just outside Derry.
Over the years, our farm has evolved – from prize-winning dairy and beef herds to the horses, sheep and experiences you see today.
Like many farms, we have adapted with time. What remains unchanged is our connection to the land, our animals and the values passed down through generations.
Every experience here is designed to feel different.
Today, horses are at the heart of everything we do – from riding lessons and trail rides to equine assisted wellbeing sessions that support confidence, connection and personal growth.
City of Derry Farm & Equestrian Centre is led by Pauline Lusby — a fourth-generation farmer with a lifelong connection to horses, people and the land.
With over 18 years’ experience coaching children, young people and adults, Pauline brings a calm, supportive and intuitive approach to everything she does.
She is a Pony Club Certified Coach and a trained Equine Assisted Services practitioner, currently completing her Level 7 postgraduate qualification. Her work focuses on building confidence, emotional awareness and connection — both in the saddle and on the ground.
Pauline’s vision is to create a space where people feel welcome, supported and able to grow — whatever their starting point.
Qualifications & Experience:
Behind every session is a small, dedicated team who share a genuine love of horses, people and farm life.
Together, we create a welcoming, supportive environment where both horses and visitors are cared for to the highest standard.
Natalie Phelan
Natalie joined the team over five years ago and plays a key role at the centre. She is our safeguarding lead and a coach at the stables, known for her calm, people-focused approach. Natalie also supports the delivery of our Equine Assisted Services programmes, helping to create a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Kate Lusby-Johnston
Kate has come through the Pony Club training pathway and brings a natural passion for both horses and farming. Alongside her university studies, she supports the delivery of camps, coaching sessions and daily farm life, bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything she does.
Sian Lusby-Johnston
Sian has also progressed through the Pony Club pathway and has a particular passion for mounted games. She is a familiar face around the yard and brings a fun, encouraging presence to sessions and activities.
We welcome children, adults, families, and groups of all abilities — whether you’re completely new to horses or have previous experience.
We also work with schools, community groups, and organisations looking for meaningful, nature-based experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Whether you’re looking to learn, build confidence, or simply enjoy time outdoors, we’d love to welcome you to the farm.
