Adult Riding Lessons

Adults can book 1-1 private lessons regardless of ability. This should cover complete beginners, nervous riders, returning riders and riders seeking private tuition.

Children’s Riding Lessons

Children begin with a 30-minute assessment lesson.  This allows the team to assess confidence, ability and previous experience before grading riders into the most suitable weekly group lesson.

Riding Lessons FAQs

What happens if it rains?

Lessons run in all weather conditions thanks to our large indoor riding arena, so your lesson can go ahead comfortably whatever the weather.

Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and boots with a flat heel and long sole.
For safety reasons:
Trainers are not recommended
Loose jewellery should not be worn
Wedding rings and small stud earrings are acceptable

No. Riding hats are provided at the centre if you do not have your own.

We recommend riding lessons from age 5.

We also offer 30-minute one-to-one sessions for 4-year-olds as a gentle introduction to ponies.

All riders under 18 begin with a 30-minute assessment lesson.This allows our instructors to:
Assess ability
Match the rider with a suitable pony
Place them into the correct lesson level

After the assessment, riders can progress into regular weekly group lessons.

It is very common for children to feel a little nervous around horses at first, and our instructors are experienced in helping young riders build confidence.

Lessons are delivered in a calm, supportive environment, and children are introduced to their pony gradually so they can feel comfortable and safe.

Our 30-minute assessment lesson allows the instructor to work at the child’s pace and match them with a suitable, gentle pony, helping them gain confidence and enjoy the experience.

No. Adult riders receive private one-to-one lessons.

This allows the lesson to be tailored to your experience level, whether you are a complete beginner or returning rider.

Children begin with a 30-minute assessment lesson.

During this session the instructor will:
Introduce the rider to their pony
Assess confidence and ability
Teach basic riding skills
Match the rider to a suitable pony

Following the assessment, riders can progress into weekly group lessons at the appropriate level.

For adults
Adult riders book a 1-hour private lesson.
Private lessons allow the instructor to:
Tailor the session to your experience level
Build confidence and riding skills
Help you progress at your own pace

Adult lessons are suitable for complete beginners through to experienced riders.

No. We provide safe, experienced horses and ponies suited to a wide range of riders and abilities.

Yes. Many riders book a one-off private lesson to try horse riding for the first time or to return to riding after a break.If you enjoy the experience, you can then choose to continue with regular lessons and develop your riding skills further.

No previous level of fitness is required to start riding. Horse riding helps develop balance, coordination and core strength, and our instructors will guide you at a pace that suits your ability.Lessons are suitable for complete beginners as well as riders returning after a break.

Learning to ride is a gradual process and everyone progresses at their own pace.Many riders begin to feel comfortable with the basics such as balance, steering and controlling the horse within their first few lessons.With regular lessons, riders continue to develop their skills, confidence and understanding of horses over time.For children, our assessment lesson helps place riders into the most appropriate level, allowing them to progress through our structured lesson programme.

Yes. For the welfare of our horses, there is a maximum rider weight limit of 15 stone (95 kg).
Our weight guidelines are in place to ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of our horses.
If you are unsure whether this applies to you, we recommend contacting us before booking, and we will be happy to advise.
For safety and horse welfare reasons, we may need to decline or reschedule lessons if a rider exceeds the weight limit on arrival.

Yes. Parents are welcome to stay and watch their child’s lesson.
We have viewing areas where parents can watch while their child learns and builds confidence with their pony.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your lesson to allow time to check in, get fitted with a riding hat if needed, and meet your instructor.

Lessons are booked and paid for online in advance through our booking system.
To book:
1. Register an account on our booking system (ECPro)
2. Add your rider details
3. Select the lesson type:
Private Lesson – description general (duration 1 hour)
Assessment Lesson – description assessment lesson (duration 30 minutes)
4. Choose your preferred date and time from the available options

Once booked, you will receive confirmation of your lesson online.

We understand that plans can change.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your lesson, please do so with at least 48 hours’ notice through the booking system.
When cancelled within this time, the lesson will be credited to your account, allowing you to rebook at a time that is convenient for you.
Unfortunately, cancellations made within 48 hours of the lesson may not be credited, as the space has been reserved for you.
